Going Global in July 2025

David Feng & Family went on a global tour of the many different rail networks in the world for all of July 2025 and the first days of August 2025, as Stage 1 of the journey.

The journey started Beijing, China. Longer, especially intercontinental legs, will be covered by air, but most of the land-based parts in especially Europe, Africa, and Asia, will be rail-based.

These were some of the rail trips you might not have been onboard yourself…

  • Railways in Serbia
Travelling on the first, opened parts of the eventual Hungary-Serbia High Speed Railway
  • Africa’s Fastest Train
All onboard the Al Boraq, Africa’s fastest train!
  • Intercity Across America by Rail
A trip on the Northeastern Corridor from Boston to New York
  • Into Canada by Rail
An international journey in North America — from Seattle to Vancouver
  • Greater China at 350 km/h
Leaving Hong Kong West Kowloon station headed into the fastest, largest HSR network in the world…

And Oceania…

Stage 2 of this all-continents journey happened in July and August 2026, with journeys in Australia and New Zealand.

  • Sydney Metro
Travelling on Sydney’s newest urban rail line, with a special journey from Tallawong via Chatswood to Sydenham
  • Railways in Auckland
Travelling on the Auckland One Rail system including a look at the incredible Waitematā station and a pre-launch visit of the CRL
  • Trains of Wellington
Braving the Desert Road, getting views of ‘Windy Welly’ with the Cable Car, and trying out local trains from the main station

Coffee (+Ice Cream) Keep Us Going!

If you like what we’re doing and wish to support us (voluntarily, of course!) throughout our journey, buy us a coffee! (The account belongs to David, but he uses it for the whole family — for purchases of train tickets, onboard catering, and services at stations worldwide. And, of course, coffee and ice cream — loved in the family!)
